As you've probably deduced by now, I'm not a fan of the stimulus schemes. I believe the costs, both long-term and short-term, are too high compared to the benefits. But there may be times when stimulus money actually hurts the economy directly.
We're running an article this issue about a Minnesota dealer who left the business because road construction killed sales at his shop. That's a common unintended and destructive consequence of road construction - it impedes commerce. In the long run, it may help businesses, but in the long run, we're all dead. In the short run, some of us are out of work.
